Morning Reads – 2/26/15

Here’s what I’m reading this morning.

If you have suggestions of blogs I should follow, post them in the comments section.

Scripture

Jeremiah 17:5-8 (English Standard Version)

bible and coffeeThus says the Lord: “Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart turns away from the lord. He is like a shrub in the desert, and shall not see any good come. He shall dwell in the parched places of the wilderness, in an uninhabited salt land.

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is in the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.”

Faith & Ministry

Why My Teen Hates Your Small GroupLeneita Fix, More Than Dodge Ball

However,  this is a generation that looks for the meaning and purpose in places they are involved. In youth group this means large groups are for preaching and singing, special events are for fun and fellowship and small groups are a place to understand their faith. There is a time to hang out. There is a time to let students be silly and out of control. My kids would say small group is not the place for this.

Peddler Coffee to Open Brick-and-Mortar LocationMikaela Gilbert-Lurie, Philadelphia Magazine

Though they wouldn’t confirm more than Logan Square and opening this spring, we have it under good authority that it will be replacing the former Darling’s Café at 2100 Spring Street.
